There is nothing better than a one pan dinner. This is made in a #9 Cast Iron Skillet. I decided to make a skillet out of this because I thought it might be good having a one pot meal. I used a heart cookie cutter for the center of the pie and poured the Bisquick batter around the heart. Great dinner!
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 can (15 1/2 ounces) original sloppy joe sauce
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
1 cup shredded Colby cheese (4 ounces)
FOR THE TOP:
1 cup Original Bisquick mix
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Meat Mixture
CHEESES ON TOP
BATTER AND BAKE
RECIPE:
Heat oven to 400ºF. Cook beef and onion in ovenproof 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain and return to pan. Stir in sloppy joe sauce and mix good. Sprinkle with Salt & Pepper and then add the cheeses.
Stir remaining ingredients (the Bisquick Mix, egg & milk) in a bowl until well blended. Pour bisquick mix right over the beef mixture. Bake about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Side Note: I put a cookie cutter in the center and poured the batter around it. Once cooked, I used my tweezers to lift the cookie cutter out.
Sloppy Joe Pie
I made an Apple Cobbler for dessert!
