Lauderdale By The Sea

Had a great time riding my bike from the Pompano Beach Pier to the pier at Lauderdale by the Sea. It is only about 3 1/2 miles each way but then I rode thru the areas and had a really nice day.

A friend of mine lives right on A1A so I got to park my car in his driveway and unload my bike. I rode 1/2 a mile to the Pompano Beach Pier and it was so nice.

I hadn't been there in years and it is looking really nice there. It used to be pretty run down and now it is so modernized and plenty of room on the sidewalks to ride. Lots of people and activites and stuff for the kids.

Of course, right across the street is the Briny Irish Pub. There is also a nice snack bar right off the boardwalk. And of course, most importantly when you are riding around, nice restrooms.

There was also a giant cage decorated as a Christmas Bulb. And some local art.

Next, I rode south mostly on the sidewalk. If I saw someone coming my way I just went down into the bike lane until I passed them. It was a really nice ride. After 3.5 miles I arrived at Lauderdale by the Sea.

I locked up my bike and walked around the neighborhood and into some shops. The beach is so nice there. They have little chairs and umbrellas in the center of the street right by the beach to relax and watch the crowds.

Then, the real purpose of my ride was to sit outside at Cafe Aruba and have an order of Conch Fritters. They are so delicious there!!

Then back to Pompano to my car and I drove home and took a little nap!! All in all, a nice day and nice bike lanes.
